Before you book anything, agree on one number: the whole budget from today to the wedding night. That number decides which venue you choose, how many guests you invite and who you book.

What does a wedding night cost?

According to a Masrawy report on Greater Cairo and Giza (September 2026), weddings fall roughly into three levels:

LevelApproximate costExample from the report
BudgetFrom EGP 80,000About EGP 143,000 for a wedding with 120 guests
Mid-rangeEGP 250,000 to 500,000About EGP 437,000 for 200 guests, EGP 150,000 of it for the venue alone
LuxuryOver EGP 600,000About EGP 980,000 for 300 guests, close to a million

These are approximate prices, and they change from area to area and venue to venue. The details and the source of every figure are in the wedding price guide.

Where does most of the budget go?

The venue and the food alone take 60% to 70% of the budget. The rest goes on the kosha and decor, photography, makeup, the DJ and the other services. So if your budget is, say, EGP 300,000, about EGP 180,000 to 210,000 of it goes on the venue and dinner.

The venue

  • Small halls in Cairo start at about EGP 30,000.
  • Mid-size halls (150 to 300 guests) in Heliopolis, Nasr City and New Cairo cost EGP 100,000 to 280,000.
  • Budget halls in Giza (Haram, Faisal and Mariouteya) start at about EGP 80,000, and the large halls on Al-Bahr al-Azam can reach EGP 540,000.
  • Five-star hotel ballrooms can go past EGP 900,000.

The food

The buffet is priced per guest: EGP 200 to 1,100, depending on the venue. In Cairo it runs EGP 400 to 1,000, and in Giza EGP 350 to 900. Every 50 extra guests add roughly EGP 18,000 to 55,000 to the food.

The other services

ServiceApproximate price
Kosha and decorEGP 30,000 to 500,000
Photo and videoEGP 8,000 to 110,000, with some packages up to 135,000

Wedding dress (to buy)EGP 13,500 to over 180,000; renting is an option too

When is a wedding more expensive?

  • From April to October, prices run about 15% to 25% higher than from November to March.
  • Fridays and Saturdays cost about 10% to 20% more than the other days of the week.

If your date isn't fixed yet, a weekday or a winter date can save a good part of the budget.

How can you save without giving up what matters?

  1. Start with the guest list. Food is priced per guest, so 50 fewer guests make a real difference.
  2. Choose the date calmly. Quieter months and weekdays cost less.
  3. Rank your priorities. Agree on the two things you won't compromise on, and save on the rest.
  4. Compare before you pay a deposit. Vendors on Zaghrouta list their packages with prices, and once a category has enough real packages you'll see "Is this a fair price?" next to each one.
  5. Put every agreement in writing. Hours, delivery, cancellation and the deposit, before you pay anything.

And the whole cost of getting married?

The wedding is only part of it. Another Masrawy report (June 2026) put the lowest cost of getting married in Greater Cairo at about EGP 1.3 to 1.4 million, flat included. Within that:

  • Furniture: about EGP 90,000 at the least, with a bedroom from EGP 25,000 and a living room from EGP 20,000.
  • Basic appliances: about EGP 60,000, with a fridge from EGP 17,000, a washing machine from EGP 10,000 and a cooker from EGP 12,000.
  • A mid-size 15-gram shabka: about EGP 95,000, with 21-karat gold at EGP 6,300 to 7,000 a gram when the report came out.

The gold price changes every day, so work out the shabka at today's estimated price, and write your home setup list room by room.
